Prerequisites
The IM contact must be present in your contact list with a valid IM address and logged on to Presence Server. This condition is also applicable for Avaya one-X Communicator and Microsoft Office Communicator contacts.
Use the following procedure to send instant messages to IM contacts, Avaya one-X Communicator, and Microsoft Office Communicator contacts:
- On the action bar, click Contact List.
The Contacts window appears below the Action bar.
- In the Contact List window, click the Click to IM icon against an IM contact .
A new chat window opens to initiate an IM session.
- In the IM window, type your message and click Send.
The system creates a new IM work item and displays it in the Work List window.
If you initiate more than one IM interactions, the new IM recipients get added to the same IM window. You need to choose the right recipient in the IM window to send the IM message.
